Vegetable dying ~ Turmeric ~

Ingredients for dying the Jeggs's sign and aprons.

Soak those fabric and boiled in the turmeric water for 30min.
I drained them and put back in aluminum water to stay the color.
I drained them again and bring them outside.

Let's unwrap the elastics*
How they turn out!?               I like it!
I hang them to dry ( I haven't washed them yet )

Those will need to hand wash(no soap) once it's dry, and hang dry it again then ready to go to the market**

You will see those at Whistler Farmers Market 2013!!  Let me know how do you like it!

Hi Cabbages

It's been almost a one and half month after I sowed the cabbage seeds.
and now the cabbages are glowing on the ground like this.

He is Jesse who works this farm in Pemberton.
It's very beautiful view the mount Currie looking here.

Ken and my friend Takuya & Chizuru helped plant some of the cabbages.  I have a heavy belly right now so I couldn't help much,, sorry guys,,,

This day was bit windy but it's kind of Nice, cause no mosquito at the moment. I hate mosquitos...

Yeah,   Jeggs are coming soon eh!? It seems quite yet but other crop is bigger than the first photo.

Anyway, Jeggs will be started at the market on 30th of June!!!

Seeding the Cabbages

I went to seed for the cabbage today at Jesse's farm.
It was nice sunny warm day so I think it's going to grow nicely.

I said to the seeds like "Wake up it's the time to germinate!"

We tried seeding two different way how it will goes on.

One is like this picture, made lots of soil cubes and then seeding in the middle on top.
the other one was seeded in the little container which is very popular to see at the plant store.

These tomatoes are looks good to plant soon!
This room has lights to grow them faster. and it's very warm in here.

I hope my cabbage plants will big when my next visit*
 Thanks Jesse!

We will be there..2013

I just have sent the application form for Whistler Farmer's Market 2013!!
yeah It's gonna be bit a different for this year.

The Best taste of Okonomiyaki in Canada for sure!
Lots of Love as well as before.

Last summer was amazing summer wasn't it?? I hope the summer comes again for this year!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all.

And I'll bring a special for you.

By the way..
I made a Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki couple days ago.
How different it is? It's not mixed with the batter like a Osaka style.
It's made by several layered ingredients.
Here is the method..
I make the batter crape first,  put on a lot of shredded cabbage, vegetables(which I put okura, yam, green onions, enoki mushroom, and pickled ginger)..    seafood or pork is common ingredients for it. but I go vegetarian way. It will seems not be able to flip it but I know you can do it somehow. I used a plate. haha. Put some water to steam it. the batter crape has meant for the lid. Cook about 8min with mid heat till the cabbage become sweet. in different pan, make a fried egg, and slide on the cabbage pancake, and press it with spatula then flip it over. put on the Magic okonomiyaki sauce, mayo, bonito flake, seaweed powder, and green onions.
It usually Hiroshima-style has noodle in it, but I didn't put at this time.

It was yummy! !

See you soon...
